Final flight

the mystery of a WWII plane crash and the frozen airmen in the High Sierra

In October 2005, two mountaineers climbing in the High Sierra found the mummified remains of a man in a World War II uniform entombed in the ice. The discovery started an investigation and the four-man crew on a routine navigation training flight in 1942, one hundred and fifty miles off-course from its reported destination, were found. The cause of the crash was bad weather, bad luck, and bad timing. And then in 2007, the second body of the flight crew was found in the glacier.
