Eddie is determined to win the Seventh Grade Science Symposium by proving once and for all that the golden eagle his father saw in the area years earlier actually exists. His father, who won the Symposium years as a boy, was laughed out of the local birding society because nobody believed he saw a golden eagle in Indiana and died last year without being able to prove his sighting.
