It's 1855 and train travel has become normal, changing geography, altering society, and fueling the industrial revolution by shortening distances. But it also brings danger and England's first death by train was recorded on the first day of railway operations in 1830. In 1855 England's first train murder paralyzes London when a gentleman is stabbed to death in a safely locked first-class passenger compartment. Thomas De Quincey and his quick-witted daughter, Emily, discover the homicide. Once again a blend of fact and fiction recalls Victorian London in a realistic way as the De Quinceys set about solving the crime.
