Aurelia, the first princess born in Renalt in 200 years, can see spirits and can use blood magic. After an assassination attempt, Aurelia is forced to flee Renalt and seek refuge in Achlev. She disguises herself as a commoner and learns how use her magic while falling for a man who can't rule beside her. But the ghosts won't leave her alone and Aurelia soon finds herself trying to prevent a political coup.
