Cinnamon toast and the end of the world

For Stephen Shulevitz, the world ended precisely at two o'clock in the morning one Saturday when he realized, with horror, that he had fallen in love with his best friend. His first instinct is to run away from him, from his town, his hippie mother and pot-head father--but soon, courage comes, and he wonders what life would be like if he met the end of the world head on.
