Eddie's war

In a series of connected prose vignettes, Illinois farm boy Eddie Carl is forced to grow up quickly when his brother, Thomas, leaves to fly a bomber during World War II. Left beind, Eddie falls for red-headed Sarah and struggles to help a gypsy friend wrongly accused of arson.
