Overworked and underpaid, twenty-five-year-old Isabelle is struggling find satisfaction in her job as one of the few Black employees at her publishing house. But when she overhears her boss talking about a high-profile author who has failed to deliver his long-awaited manuscript, Izzy sees it as her chance to prove herself and finally get a promotion. She is sent to California to convince him to finish the book, but Beau Towers is nothing like she expected. He may be standoffish, but Izzy realizes that he may be the only one who really understands her problems in the publishing industry. As Izzy and Beau discover they have more and more in common, they find themselves falling for each other.
