Nine-year-old Amanda's popularity increases after she brings her ferret Peach to school for show-and-tell, prompting the already popular Kim to go out and get a ferret of her own, while Peach, accustomed to being a pampered princess at the pet store, tries to get used to life with the Kellers.

When Amanda begs her parents for a pet and they relent and get her a ferret, the previously calm household turns chaotic, and even worse, the ferret learns to fear Amanda, who knows nothing about how to take care of a pet.

Nine-year-old Amanda and her new pet, a ferret she names "Peach," embark on a battle of wills as Amanda struggles to teach Peach not to bite, while Peach struggles to vanquish her new enemy, Handra the five-headed monster--also known as Amanda's hand.

Peach the ferret's attempts to escape are rewarded with a new furry playmate: Prince Edwin, a hyper, clumsy glutton with no sense of boundaries.
