How I survived middle school

After Addie ditches her for the Pops, the most popular group in school, Jenny decides to run against Addie for sixth grade class president in an effort to stop the Pops from running the school.

When Jenny and her rival Addie make a bet that each girl will raise more money than the other at their middle school fund-raising carnival, both girls hope that the new cool girl will help by joining their group.

Addie promises that she can get a star performer to sing at the school's annual winter dance as a ploy to increase ticket sales, but her bluff forces her friend Jenny to save both Addie and the dance.

Jenny's favorite aunt, an art director for a greeting card company, comes to her school for Career Day, and when her aunt notices her friend Liza's artwork and expresses interest in using it for a new line of products, Jenny becomes jealous and struggles with whether to stand by her friend.

Jenny never thought of herself as a leader, but as her friends point out, if she doesn't win class president, the popular kids will run the school.
