The 2005 hurricane season was the most devastating in history. There were fifteen hurricanes, four of which reached Category 5 strength. The Mississippi Gulf Coast was where Katrina hit full force with high winds and a thiry-foot storm surge and the small town of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi was reduced to rubble. Bay St. Louis was the former home of CNN correspondent Kathleen Koch and she found herself reporting on the hurricane from her own town and her own concrete pad where her house once stood.
