Friends Michael and Kate are enlisted by the mysterious CyberTimeSurfing Institute to travel back to 1778 to ensure Michael's ancestor, an African-American Continental cavalryman, survives the war, and to warn newly arrived General Lafayette of a kidnapping plot.
