As he stepped up to the plate at Yankee Stadium in 1966, Yankee fans hoped that Bobby Murcer would be the next Mickey Mantle. He wasn't the next Mickey but he became one of the most-loved Yankees of all time. He had a stellar seventeen-year major league career with the Yankees, and also was an Emmy Award-winning Yankees broadcaster for twenty-five years. Bobby Murcer died of cancer in July 2008.
