Alan Christoffersen, attacked and left to die on the road only sixteen days into his cross-country trek to Key West, wakes in a Spokane, Washington, hospital to realize that he has not only lost his wife, home, and business, but has now been deprived of the ability to walk, and he accepts a generous offer to recuperate at the home of a mysterious woman named Angel, who he learns needs some help along her journey, too.
