Chronicles the lives of all three of Thomas Jefferson's daughters, Martha and Maria by his wife, and Harriet by his slave and lover, Sally Hemings. Each of the three daughters led drastically different lives, and while Martha and Maria each had a Parisian education and returned quite jaded over the laws and customs of America, Harriet escaped slavery and left Monticello behind to shape her own destiny. Examines the legacy of these women using DNA evidence and recently discovered letters and correspondence and shows another side of the controversial Founding Father set against the backdrop of the American Revolution.
