A real American

Eleven-year-old Nathan, his older brother dead, his best friend gone, and his father busy trying to save the family farm in western Pennsylvania, befriends an immigrant boy who has moved to town with his family to work in the new coal mines, but finds it more difficult to convince others to overcome their prejudices.
