Ben Warner, a fifteen-year-old boy not given to deep thinking, is recruited by a young woman from the World of Ideas, an idyllic afterlife, to serve as a guinea pig in a debate between philosophers Wittgenstein and Socrates over whether philosophy benefits the common man.
