Denver attorney/detective Luis Montez becomes involved in a confusing investigation when he meets a young writer while vacationing in Mexico who gives him her unfinished novel and vanishes, leaving him to face pressure from her wealthy adoptive family, and to solve the mystery of why she believed she was the daughter of activist-writer Oscar "Zeta" Acosta, the legendary Brown Buffalo.
