Ever since he was born, Elliot has suffered terrible anxiety and fear, fear even of his own feelings of fear. Only a daily regimen of pills makes life manageable--but one Christmas Eve the pharmacy has mixed-up his prescription, threatening to unleash "the beast," as Elliot calls it. His mother heads out during the severe snowstorm, with the pharmacy only ten minutes away, and hours later is still gone. The only thing to do is for Elliot to face his fear and head out after her, hoping his medication will last before the beast takes over his mind.
