Single aspiring Indian Candian baker Reena Manji asks the Muslim neighbor her meddling parents are trying to set her up with, to pretend to be engaged to her so that she can enter a television cooking competition for couples and win a scholarship to a top culinary school. Reena and the neighbor Nadim fall for one another off-screen but their parental relationships present challenges they'll need to overcome.
