Sylvia Doe and the 100-year flood

Twelve-year-old Sylvia Doe keeps running away from foster homes to return to the mountains of North Carolina, until a one-hundred year flood, a strange boy, and a cave that is a portal to other times and places, bring her back where she truly belongs.
