Yoh and his friends must rescue Tao Ren, who has gotten himself locked in the family's dungeons after rebelling against his father; however, Yoh's influence has started to wear off and Ren has found a new weapon against his father's terrorism.

Yoh is teamed up with moody Faust on the journey to the Patch Village, where the pair forms strange alliances that test everyone's strength and loyalties in unexpected ways.

Yoh Asakura, a shaman who can channel ghosts, transfers to Shinra Private Junior High and struggles to protect his fellow students from the spirits he encounters.

Yoh faces off against the ice-wielding Ainu shaman Horohoro and then against Faust VIII, descendant of the sorcerer who sold his soul to the Devil.

Ren is determined to end the Tao reign of terror, but to do so means he must face his father, the most feared Shaman in China.
